Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve updated you on the progress of the Brumby. Despite the hiatus, I’ve been making some significant strides in its restoration.
I’ve finally managed to get my hands on some dry ice to remove the rest of the insulation. The decision to leave the insulation on the transmission tunnel intact is more about practicality. Removing it would require a significant amount of effort, which may not yield a corresponding benefit.
Next, I’ve removed the rest of the air conditioning system, excluding the condenser. I didn’t want to vent the system just yet, so I’ve left that part for now.
I’ve also made some progress on the tray. After pulling everything out and giving it a quick clean, I plan to pressure wash and scrub it later to get a better view of the condition.
Unfortunately, the tray does have some rust spots that have gone all the way through the bed. The plan is to cut these out and weld in some sheet metal to fill those spots. I’ll also be re-welding the centre section that one of the previous owners took an angle grinder to.
Once that’s done, I’ll seal the bed with some Gator Grip. Its primary function is to provide a protective coating that helps prevent further damage and wear.
So, there you have it! The Brumby restoration is back in full swing. Thanks for keeping up to date with my work.
