Again another big day working on the car today, I ended up getting quite a bit done, I finished getting the caliper on the RH ride fitted and reinstalled the wheel, and tightened up the CV bolt
I then moved on to the LH side, loosening the CV bolt, jacking up the car, taking the wheel off, and removing the CV mounting plate (Image at the Top)
Then I was able to remove the caliper and rotor from the ankle, the tie rod came out with a little WD-40 and a few hits from the ball pein hammer. Removing the lower ball joint was harder than the other side, nothing that a good dose of WD-40 and hammering couldn’t get out. after getting it out I was able to clean the ankle with a wire brush to get rid of the rust. Re-installing the ball joint was a bit tricky I ended up putting it in the lower control arm and using a jack to push it in place.
After getting the joints installed I then moved on to the brake lines. They were pretty easy just messy with the brake fluid dripping making it slippery, after they were installed I called it a day there due to the weather turning bad.
Current to-do list for the Brumby to get road worthy now:
- Install rotor on LH Side
- Change brake lines on rear drums
- Bleed brakes on 4 corners
- Fix shift linkage
- Complete an oil change
- Fix the side-view mirror
- Fix climate control for de-mister
Realistically there are maybe another 2 days tops of work left to do for the Roadworthy, then I can start looking at fixing the interior.
