We all have these days where we have big plans / goals on what we are going to achieve, unfortunately that does not always go to plan, today was one of those days. A 1 step foward 2 steps back sorta day
First item of the day was to re-fix the washer bottle with some silicon, although this one had another leak I found in the pump assembly. Instead of trying to fix it I’ve ordered a whole new assembly online and should be able to fit it in the coming weeks
Onto the big job of the day, the CV boot on the inner RH front side, first of all the tie rod boot was torn so it will need to be replaced. On top of that it was rusted off. So i decided to angle grinder it off to save effort. At the end I managed to remove the brake line that was cracked (need to replace as well), and as well as I removed the strut. Then I managed to get the axel out of the nuckel, with the diff side still installed (need to get a pin push tool). After I get the other side out I can install the new boot.
After that point I decided to call it a day, I also had a quick look at the gear linkage that is quite worn out.
Next weekends plans are to remove the rest of the axel, clean the engine bay (lots of gease from the CV boot being split), and fix the CV boot
A few extra items to add to the list to fix before the road worthy are as follows;
- Replace cracked brake lines
- Replace tie rods as boots are torn
